AKG H 85 Microphone Shock Mount, smaller, increased clampingCompared with the well-known H 100 that is included with most of the AKG Project Studio Line microphones, the H 85 has a narrower outer diameter (reduced from 120 mm to 100 mm / 4.7 to 3.9 inches) so that it can be placed closer to an instrument or other sonic source. It also has an increased clamping range (from 19 – 26 mm, or about .75 – 1.02 inches) so that it can be used with a larger assortment of microphones and to hold them more securely. The H 85 also comes with a brass insert that allows it to be used with European-sized 9.37-mm mic stands or removed to be used with U.S. standard 5/8-inch stands.The H 85 has a modern dark gray finish that blends well with a variety of microphone finishes. It can be used with microphones with cylindrical or slightly conical shafts because of its increased clamping range, making it perfect for use with a wide range of models from probe-style pencil condensers to large diaphragm models. The H 85 will be available beginning in December and at that time will also begin phasing in as an included accessory with the AKG Project Studio Line models C 4000 B, C 3000 B, C 2000 B and The Project Pack (a combination of the AKG C 3000 B and C 1000 S).
