AKG Microphones Are Reference for Roland COSM Microphone Modeling
Two renowned manufacturers of innovative professional audio products teamed up to cooperate in a relatively new high-tech field, COSM (Composite Object Sound Modeling): Roland, Japan and AKG Acoustics, Austria.
Roland's cooperation with AKG Acoustics has been started in early 2001. AKG C 3000 B microphones are used as the standard input source for Roland's COSM Microphone Modeling Software, a feature integrated in several hard disc recorders and mixers from Roland.
COSM is a technology developed by Roland that can simulate the acoustical performance of other microphones. A reference mic is needed as the primary input source. Based on this input the COSM software will perform the modeling for other microphones.
The first reference microphone used is the C 3000 B. Roland considers it the optimum condenser microphone and uses it for COSM Microphone Modeling offered in their Digital Studio Workstation Series. Future software updates will make the benefits of this microphone modeling software available for other Roland V-Studio and V-Mixing products as well.
The AKG C 3000 B is the only "true" large-diaphragm condenser microphone in the world in its price bracket. It is an ideal tool for commercial studios, project studios, home recording and broadcasting. A special 1-inch large diaphragm transducer element provides almost the same acoustical performance as expensive studio microphones. The AKG C 3000B transducer element delivers the typical sound of an AKG large-diaphragm condenser microphone.
