Audio Basics: Sound, Acoustics and more
To be able to work with audio you need some basic knowledge of sound. Sound travels in a wave through the air. Sound is actually compressed air.
To explain sound properties think of a wave at the beach. There are all kinds of waves. Small waves like ripples. Bigger waves that crash on the beach and even much bigger waves that you can not even really see because they are so long.
{sine.jpgr Try to think of sound as a wave. Look at the waveform and try to think of it as pressure. The pressure can go up, it can be equal to the normal pressure of air and it can be lower.
But sound and music is a little more complex than this single waveform. The above sine wave is what a testtone of a tv channel or something like that would sound like.
