By doing this you could have a female voice emerge out of a male vocal sample (or vice versa). With other sound material, formant shifting produces other quite different effects. From subtle nuances to wild effects, a broad range of possibilities opens up. - The Robot Mode In this mode, all pitch information is first removed from the sample. The result is a completely monotonic sound. However, you can now provide new pitch information via MIDI which the sampler interpolates into the prior pitchless sample. This too happens in realtime and can also be applied to multiple voices. In addition to all this, the STS-5000 features an extensive filter section with 25 different filter types.
