Cubase VST 5.0 Release 4 for Windows Supports ReWire 2, download free of charge
Hamburg - Steinberg Media Technologies AG today announced that Cubase VST 5.0 Release 4 ships with a fully functional implementation of the Propellerheads ReWire 2 interface. With this new feature, Propellerheads' Reason plugs right into Cubase VST so that users can run, access and control it as an instrument rack in Cubase. For maximum convenience and ease of use, the names of the Reason instruments appear in the Cubase device list, and may be assigned randomly to any desired tracks and channels. Now it is no longer necessary to program sequences in Reason, sync it up to Cubase VST, and run it as a separate virtual device. This affords users an remarkable range of new possibilities. Next to VST 2.0 instruments, the implementation puts at users' fingertips an arsenal of features such as Reason's Rex-File Player, ReSampler, the Subtractor synthesizer, various drum machines, and the full complement of Reason effects and mix devices. This spells a quantum for the sound studio in the computer, ushering in a whole new era for digital audio. With this milestone collaborative effort, Steinberg and Propellerheads have set an industry example for the benefits a powerful alliance can bring to the user. Cubase VST 5.0 Release 4 is available immediately for downloading. It is free of charge to registered Cubase users. The final Macintosh version featuring ReWire 2 support will ship in June, but a public beta version is available now.
