PreSonus Preamps featured on The Third Circle Enter the Worship CircleThe Third Circle, a unique compilation of meditation and worship music and the most recent album in the “Enter the Worship Circle” (EWC) series, was recently released on November 4th. Following two albums that have sold over 100,000 units combined, The Third Circle features the performing talents of Ben and Robin Pasley (100 Portraits), Barry and Michelle Patterson and Kate Hurley. Ben Pasley, writer, performer and producer of the EWC series, turned to PreSonus Audio when recording the much-awaited Third Circle project.“Over the last few years I have grown to depend on PreSonus for my live recording techniques because the sound is always clean and detailed,” says Pasley. “Their equipment gives us the rock-solid dependability we need so we can focus on making music.” The Third Circle, which was the best-selling album on grassrootsmusic.com weeks before its release date, features hand percussion from around the world, a “rootsy” vocal blend and acoustic guitars. During the recording, EWC relied on several PreSonus preamps, the VXP on all five vocal channels, M80 and Digimax on percussion and guitars and an ACP88 for compression before the 24/96 recording inputs. “I am never afraid to use PreSonus compressors when I track,” says Pasley. “They sound very transparent and I use them to build more gain before digital clip. The expander circuit on the VXP is an amazing tool for lowering the noise floor in multi-track live recording. It does an invisible job and never snips the signal!” The “Enter the Worship Circle” series began in January 1999 with the release of The First Circle, which immediately gained traction with fans of roots music. Grassroots Music began distributing the album and it became the company's fastest-selling album ever. The first of the series featured the songwriting and performance talents of Ben and Robin Pasley, Don and Lori Chaffer and Christina Graves (Waterdeep). The Second Circle, released in 2001, melds tabalas, dumbeks, an amazing sitar, hand percussion and acoustic guitars, strung together with simple arrangements and looping-rhythm sections.
