Sequencers: The MIDI Event Editor
This next image shows the MIDI event editor/sequencer. The Event editor is available in most software sequencers, but can have many different functions and options. Usually you can simply open it like any of the other editors, like the sheet music, piano roll or step editor.
So what does the event editor do, and what can you use it for? Basically the event editor is a friendly representation of MIDI. So you can really see what MIDI looks like, but in a way a human who understands music, bars, measures, quarter notes etc can read it. Look at this next picture of a MIDI event Editor. This simple example shows you different music notes which include information on the bar or measure, the position in that bar, the note type and length. Can you read some of it?
