SPL a new miking and mixing system for 5.1 recordings

At Musikmesse Frankfurt SPL will exhibit the AREA 5.1, a new miking and mixing system for 5.1 recordings. The AREA 5.1 was streamlined with the experiences of the ATMOS 5.1 in mind to accommodate the primary features in an affordable system that puts everybody in state to start 5.1 recordings. The AREA 5.1 also allows to simultaneously record in 5.1 and stereo. The range of applications spans from TV- and movie productions, live recordings of concerts and shows to the miking of drums, piano, choirs or virtually any sound for 5.1 audio productions.

The AREA 5.1 includes five high precision mic preamp which can be coupled with a motorized controls. Each preamp delivers up to 70 dB of preamplifiaction gain. Other functions are padding, phase reversal and phantom power as well as a stereo downmix section that enables a user to record both 5.1 and stereo at the same time. The Sub/LFE channel creates the sub signal from a selection of front, surround and center microphone signals.

As accessories SPL offers a mic array in the typical INA5 set-up which can hold any microphone and a multicore with a length of up to 500ft.
