Steinberg Yamaha Mac G5s running Cubase SX3 Mac OSX Tiger
Steinberg and Yamaha have shown their full range of audio software and hardware based around the Apple Macintosh platform at the MacExpo in Cologne, Germany. Visitors to Stand 945 at the Koeln Messe Center experienced integrated Steinberg/Yamaha music production solutions fully supported on Apples Mac OSX.
"Our presence here together with Yamaha clearly underlines the ongoing commitment of both companies to the Mac platform," states Steinberg's Marketing Director Frank Simmerlein. "With Studio Connections technology, Steinberg and Yamaha are showing new ways to integrate hardware and software for musicians, engineers and producers independent of platform. Also, Tiger is turning out to be a fantastic operating system for audio professionals, with new features which we're already supporting in our products," he adds. Centerpiece of the booth will be the continuing technological cooperation of the two companies focused on the Studio Connections initiative. Steinberg and Yamaha product experts will be showing the advantages of this next-generation technology that integrates Steinberg's software with the Yamaha range of digital audio hardware. Mac G5s running Cubase SX3 are shown integrally linked to Yamaha hardware products including the 01X, SPX2000, Motif Rack ES and Motif ES6. The first stage of the Studio Connections technology encompasses Total Recall, with information from the digital audio hardware being automatically stored and recalled within the Cubase project file.
Running on Mac OS 10.4 Tiger, Cubase SX3 also displays new features currently exclusive to the Mac platform, including support for the new Aggregate Device, which allows multiple audio devices to be addressed at once. Also new in Cubase SX3 under Tiger is support for MIDI networking, which allows MIDI data to be transferred to other computers in real-time using TCP/IP.
