Yamaha Audio Improves PM1DV2 Sound Reinforcement Digital Mixer Console
Listen. Thats just what Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division did while improving on its flagship PM1D sound reinforcement digital console. User feedback played a significant role in the approximately 20 new features provided in the PM1DV2.
Notable features include Automatic Gain Adjustment for systems using shared inputs, and Load Filter, which allows for more flexible file management to and from the PCMIA data memory card.
Turn it up with Version 2. For theater applications, an enhanced Event List enables the Time Code Event List to match that found on the Yamaha PM5D console. An Insert/Delete Channel function has been added to improve the already user-friendly console setup.
With the PM1D being so prominent in the market, many engineers and sound designers have requested specific features beyond Version 1 OS, states Marc Lopez, product manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems Division. We listened to our end-users, and now present a robust upgrade to an already-comprehensive system.
The PM1D is a totally digital system that performs all mixing and audio processing functions completely in the digital domain with 32-bit internal processing for superior audio quality. The Control Surface (CS1D) operates a digital audio engine (DSP1D) which can be located with the control surface or remoted to the stage or other convenient location.
Other new features include Fader View, Remote Control Support from Yamaha DM or 0 series mixers, the integration of Yamahas Add-On Effects (including Vintage Compressors, EQ, REV-X and Tape Emulation), Auto Store Overwrite, an All Fader View page (useful for remote control operations from a laptop computer), Current Time Display, and a Direct Out from the Pre High Pass.
Other upgrades include new User Define functions, along with additional indications of assigned GEQ, a Clear All function for Oscillator and Talkback, a number of new factory presets, an expanded number of Input EQ Library and Input CH Library, plus extensions to the Recall Safe function. In addition, the PM1DV2 now supports the MY8-DA96 expansion card.
The Yamaha PM1D remains the console of choice for sound reinforcement engineers, states Larry Italia, general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio. We will continue to listen to their input and build products that will make them even more successful at their craft.
Configurable in both 48- and 96-channel versions with 48 mix busses, 24 matrices and 12 DCAs (Digitally Controlled Amplifiers), the system uses top-quality 28-bit A/D and 27-bit D/A conversion. Dual inputs on each channel provide 96 inputs for the 48-channel system and 192 inputs on the 96-channel version. If more channels are required, adding a second digital engine (DSP1DEX) can expand the PM1D system to 384 inputs on 192 channels.
